Rare chance to buy an unmolested low mileage emerging classic BMW E36 323i Convertible with 5-speed manual gearbox, contrasting factory hardtop and full service history. Excellent full black leather interior with no wear on seat bolsters and rust-free near perfect bodywork in stunning BMW blue pearl metallic. Fitted with genuine BMW M3 wheels and near new tyres. Have full service history, all original documents, handbooks etc, both sets of original BMW keys, complete original BMW tool kit, bills for work and parts and MoTs back to 2007. Full 12 months MoT and V5 in my name. Rear parking sensors and stand for hardtop.

Here's the story: I bought the car six years ago as a Sunday driver and have only covered approx 2,500 miles since 2016 and up until very recently the car was always garaged and never used in the winter months or in bad weather. When I took the car out of the garage a couple of months ago to park it on the drive, (as the garage was being demolished to make way for a new build), and removed the hardtop the convertible roof refused to open. It seems that E36 convertibles are notorious for having sticky roofs if not used regularly, and the hardtop had been in place for over a year. The car was taken to a respected BMW specialist who diagnosed the problem as damp and corrosion in one of the motors, he fitted two secondhand motors and the convertible roof was operating again, albeit slowly and needing a little bit of assistance. Few weeks later I took the hardtop off again and the roof got stuck halfway up and needed the motors disengaging to be able to put it back down manually. And then while it was halfway in the garage the wind blew the garage door down, scuffed the bonnet and scraped a thumbnail size mark into the lacquer on the nearside front wing. The photos show the car with the roof down, with the hardtop fitted and with the roof stuck halfway up. Also pix of the scrape on the bonnet and wing. More photos on request.

So there you have it, the car drives, handles and stops perfectly, smooth and powerful as you would expect from a BMW 323i with a mere 75,000 on the clock, not been messed about by a boy racer or fitted with a daft exhaust system. Apart from the M3 wheels and badges, the car is 100% unmolested BMW E36, even the rechargable torch is still in the glovebox. Just been MoT'd for full 12 months.

What it needs is the convertible roof looking at properly by an expert such as Roof Tech in Chester and the paintwork on the bonnet and wing sorting, (and the bootlid that for some reason is a slightly different shade of blue to the rest of the car). BMW E36 models are now recognised as an emerging classic, especially convertibles, and this would be an easy project to make into a real minter. I have hardly ever used the car and it needs to be used to get the best out of it, not parked in the garage under a cover. Just had it MoT'd for a full 12 months, but as the convertible roof needs work the car is being sold as 'spares or repair' with no warranty. What you see is what you get. No part-exes, no cheques, no overseas sales, no Paypal, no groups of nit-pickers please. Open to sensible offers. First to see will buy. £2500 cash and drive it away.
