Jason Pritchard took a maximum score on Pirelli tyres on the British Historic Rally Championship’s double header at Rally Isle of Man. Pritchard and co-driver Phil Clarke won both parts of the event in their Ford Escort Mk2, finishing over two minutes clear in the historics section.
Their maximum score puts them three points ahead of fellow Pirelli crew Nick Elliott and Dave Price, who took third on the first part of the rally before retiring from part two due to bent steering. Pritchard and Elliott will fight over the title on the Trackrod Historic Cup in Yorkshire on September 29-30.
Elsewhere on the Isle of Man, Pirelli drivers Alex Laffey and Hugh Hunter fought over fifth overall in from the start of the British Rally Championship event, with Hunter eventually moving ahead when Laffey was forced to retire with a mechanical issue on the final day. Laffey claimed a stage win on the third test of the rally in his Ford Fiesta R5.
Oscar Solberg finished eighth overall and third among the Juniors on his Isle of Man debut to end his debut year in the BRC with Pirelli in third place in the Junior standings.
In the Cadet Cup, Tom Williams took his maiden win on the first part of the event, and was only denied a double when his Pirelli-shod Fiesta cut out. The Cadet title had already been secured by fellow Pirelli driver Josh Cornwell, who stepped up to a Peugeot 208 R2 for the Isle of Man and posted a strong finish.
