I love driving this car but it needs a few jobs doing and some TLC, which a combination of my work schedule and a 2006 VW Golf Tdi estate also needing attention don't allow me. I bought it to cover for my Golf being off the road due to a transmission fault but that'll be fixed imminently. My head says the Golf has to have my attention now because I need its boot space and long-distance diesel economy, so my heart loses and this little gem has to go.
I've had the car checked out by Jo Darby Cars independent BMW specialist and will email you the work-to-be-done sheet. Quite a few of them are "recommends" not "musts", or low-parts price high-labour time jobs so the car would make a good fixer-upper for an enthusiast. To me it drives great – not fast but as smooth as Bird's custard – and has taken me to Antwerp, Brussels and Lille totally fuss-free.
Little extras are the window fairings and fitted footwell rubber mats, and everything electrical works. It has a few scratches and dents but no corrosion – I can email more pics. I can't get the glovebox open – is there a trick…?
MoT due 7th February – so spares or repairs. I think better to keep on the road but it's got to be worth a fair bit broken up for parts…?
