The Autosport International 2019

The club once again did the membership proud with the display at Autosport International with a wide variety of the cars the Motorsport and Trackday register members have.

There were M powered race cars, Rick Kerry’s – V8 Powered 1 Series, HRD Racing S54 powered E36, Darren Balls E92 M3, plus Class 6 BMWCCR cars supplied by Kevin Denwood (Modified ex BMWcup car), Gareth Montgomery in his E36 330, Jim Benson’s ex 330 Challenge Car.  We also had the new Lantern liveried BMWcup 325ti car, Steve Samway’s 318is, and Gieseppe Callaris 318ti.  We also can’t miss out the trackday cars, Dean Greenfield’s E36 328, and James Walgrove’s E30 M3.  Something a bit different was also supplied by Danielle Murphy bringing her Phoenix from the flames E92 Drift Car.

We had 4 great days at the show with lots of interest in the clubs activities and signed up 15 new members and 13 renewals with varied interests, so overall it was a great success and we look forward to the year ahead.

Big thanks to those that helped make it happen – Joe Geach, Kevin Denwood, Paul Travers, Dave Evans, Jan Owen, Dean Greenfield, Hugh Gurney, Matt Smith and Martin Roche plus the many drivers, supporters and exhibitors who helped over the course of the show. Not forgetting Michelle who attended on Saturday bringing merchandise that was well received.

I hope the new members and drivers who take part this year enjoy all the club can offer.

Autosport International is a showcase for the great and good from the world of motorsport.  It plays host to a wonderful display of super, hyper and racing cars and is a great opportunity to see some of the greatest cars in the World.  The selection of vehicles from global manufacturers is amazing to see in the ‘flesh’.

This show is a personal favourite of mine as having been involved in the launch of BMW Car Club Racing last year and also the club Trackdays, it’s great to meet up with all the Car Club members and racing drivers who show such passion and enthusiasm for this arm of the club….they really are a great bunch.

Also it’s the perfect opportunity to showcase our Club and invite new members to sign up to enjoy not only the benefits the club offers but also to enjoy being part of an ever growing family of club members.

This year I had the opportunity to take a short break from the club stand and have a short walk around the show. Sadly I didn’t manage to get over to the Live Action Arena where, on the UK’s largest indoor racing track, there was wheel to wheel racing and stunt drivers but from my brief tour the personal highlights were the F1 racing stand who were presenting the 2018 McLaren MCL33 F1 car and introducing two new team drivers who gave a talk about the upcoming season and in the Performance & Tuning the custom wide-body BMW i8 supercar displayed proudly on the Liberty Walk stand.
