2016 M4 GTS
BMW introduced the M4 GTS concept in August 2015 at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. It is a track-focused version of the standard M4 Coupé and is limited to 700 units.
The same 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six engine as in the normal M4 powers this aggressively styled BMW, but the power has been raised to 493 bhp. This power increase is largely due to a novel water injection system that is the first to be used on a production automobile in almost twenty years.
Although the water-cooling system adds some weight to the car the engineers have been able to scrape a significant amount of weight from this track focused weapon, with the GTS weighing in at 1,510kg.
On the track is where the M4 GTS is most at home and this shows in its statistics as it hits 60 in just 3.8 seconds. As is standard for manufacturers these days the car also recorded a time around the Nürburgring Nordschleife in just 7min 28sec. The M4 GTS’ Nüburgring time is the same as that of a Porsche Carrera GT, one of the fastest and highly revered cars of the last decade, hats off to the M4 GTS and to BMW for making something truly special!
